Shop Assistant

Job Summary:
Toys R Us and Babies R Us South Africa is looking for a motivated Shop Assistant to provide excellent customer service, support sales, and contribute to the overall performance of the store. The successful candidate will assist customers with their shopping needs, provide product advice, promote additional sales, and ensure that merchandise is correctly displayed and priced.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service and create a positive shopping experience.

• Assist customers with product selection, prices and warranties.

• Demonstrate and explain products to customers.

• Drive sales and identify opportunities for additional sales.

• Ensure products are correctly priced and displayed.

• Implement promotions and maintain merchandising standards.

• Keep the sales area clean and properly organised.

• Report fast- and slow-selling products to management.

• Participate in stock takes and stock counts.

• Help minimise stock losses and unnecessary expenses.

• Protect company assets and contribute to achieving store sales targets.

Requirements:

• Matric Certificate.

• At least 6 months of retail experience.

• Own or reliable transport, as the position requires working shifts.

• Strong communication and selling skills.

• Customer-service orientation.

• Motivated, target-driven and sales-focused.

• Ability to work with merchandising and store-layout requirements.

The successful candidate will also be expected to complete required training, follow company procedures and standards, participate in performance and development reviews, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to new technologies and working methods.
